SIRENS' SONG on the 4th!

Let's celebrate with Bike Baskets, PJ's and Chocolate Bubbly!

SOMEBODY CALL 911!

Hey hey Rounders! If you’re heading into the holiday weekend and need something to binge or buy, I’ve got you covered with a pop culture curation inspired by Netflix’s limited series, Sirens staring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Acock and Kevin Bacon. I recently appeared on “NY Living” to round it up; You can check out the full segment on YouTube or the :90 IG Reel here.

Set on a picturesque Nantucket-like island, Sirens, gives us all the aesthetic feels when it comes to vicariously living through rich people in beautiful sea cliff homes (and you know that’s my favorite vicarious side hustle). If you haven’t watched yet, Simone, (Milly Alcock) is the blissfully happy assistant to the glamorously odd ornithophile, Michaela (Julianne Moore). These incredible actresses are two peas in a Lululemon Pod until Simone’s, edgier, older, sister Devon shows up to extract Simone from her idyllic life with a plea to come home and help take care of their aging addled father and a very travel weary Edible Arrangement. I know after this show I’m going to think twice before sending one to a Shiva again! (Yes Shiva. Trust me, the fruit is very much appreciated after all the cold cuts and rugelach.) Although criticized for not having any actual mermaids, I really enjoyed the performances, elegant coastal fashion and the home decor. It starts off a little slow but stick with it; this fast five episode series gets better and funnier throughout the season.

And of course it wouldn’t be a Roundup if I didn’t find fabulous goodies for all with a special Marta discount code! So let’s Round it the F Up!!!

BASKET BABE ALERT!!!

Simone (Milly Alcock) loves to cruise around the island spying for her boss on her Sixthreezero EVRYjourney Bike, tricked out with every chic pedal pusher’s favorite accessory, the Nantucket Bike Basket.

What I love about this basket is you don’t need a bike to enjoy it. Look how cute it is when attached to a towel rack in the bathroom (audible gasp was just heard throughout the land of Ravin Roundup Readers). They have a great selection of baskets for all your bike and storage needs and they have given us 15% off site wide through July; just use code MARTA15.

PAJAMA PARTY

As an extremely unsupervised child of the 70’s/80’s there were many scaring pop culture moments I’m still working through as an adult. The Fame rape scene, multiple Fantasy Island episodes, and Frenchie piercing Sandy’s ear in Grease (which should have been rated BF for Bodily Fluids).

Although I eventually got over the Grease trauma, I never was too keen on the concept of Pajama Parties still thinking that someone (looking at you Hillary Dooskin) was going to attack me in the middle of the night with a safety pin and an ice cube. I also never really had cute PJ’s, til now!

Sparked by the nocturnal naughty shenanigans the Sirens’ characters engage in coordinated jammies, I found an amazing company called Room Service. They make the softest and cutest pajamas in multiple colors and designs. And Room Service offered us a lovely 20% off the month of July; just use code Marta_20.

POPPIN’ CHOCOLATE BUBBLES!

I don't want to give away too much of the Sirens plot but there is a bit of significance to a certain box of chocolates that bud toking billionaire, Peter Kell (Kevin Bacon), brings his wife Michaela (Julianne Moore) as an apology gift.

Now of course there are many Haute Chocolatiers I could have approached for the Roundup but I felt like kicking it old school and went to the lovely folks from Li-Lac Chocolates who have been a cocoa institution in New York since 1923. Not only are they the oldest chocolate house in NYC but they’ve been using the same chocolate recipe for 100 years!! And the lovely Cacao Curators at Li-Lac were kind of enough to give us 15% off; just use code MARTA_15 at check out through 9/25.

Well that’s it for this weeks’ Roundup if you want to sign up for my newsletter on beehiiv please subscribe below. I promise only to deliver the most fun stuff ever to your inbox. And please let me know if you have a show, product, book or spa anything to recommend; I’m always looking for new fabulous things to Round Up!
